Word to PDF
Turn a Word (.docx) document with text, tables and pictures into a PDF whose text you can select and search. It works best with simple documents, and layout, fonts and page breaks may differ from Word. It runs in your browser, so your document is not uploaded.
Processed in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
How it works
- Add one Word document saved as .docx.
- Read the notes about this document, such as fonts, other alphabets or content that will not come across.
- Select Make PDF.
- Download the PDF and compare it with your document before you use it.
What this does and doesn't do
- What it does
- Lays your .docx out in the browser and draws it into a PDF: text (as real, selectable text), tables, pictures, headers, footers and page numbers. Everything happens in your browser.
- What it doesn't do
- It works best with simple documents, and it is not Word: layout, fonts and page breaks may differ from what Word would make. Only .docx files are supported, not .doc or other formats. Only Latin letters are drawn, so other alphabets may be lost or misplaced (the page warns you). Text boxes, charts, SmartArt, equations and embedded objects are not drawn. Fonts other than Calibri, Cambria, Arial, Times New Roman and Courier New are replaced by similar ones. Your original file is never changed.
Questions about this tool
Is my Word document uploaded when I turn it into a PDF?
No. Word to PDF runs in your browser, on your own device. Your document is read and changed there, and never sent to our servers or to anyone else's.
What happens to my data?
Your document and the PDF made from it stay in your browser's memory while you work and are gone when you close or refresh the page. We do not save them, and this site uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Our host may keep ordinary server logs of page visits, which never include your files.
Is there a file size limit?
We do not set one. The work is done in your device's memory, so very large files can be slow or fail, especially on a phone. The whole document is laid out in memory before it is drawn, so a long document with many pictures takes longer and needs more memory. The page warns you above 50 MB for one file or 200 MB in total, and you can still carry on.
Does it change my original file?
No. You download a new file, and the original on your device is left exactly as it was.
