Questions about this tool

Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?

No. Split PDF runs in your browser, on your own device. Your PDF is read and changed there, and never sent to our servers or to anyone else's.

What happens to my data?

Your PDF and the pieces it is split into stay in your browser's memory while you work and are gone when you close or refresh the page. We do not save them, and this site uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Our host may keep ordinary server logs of page visits, which never include your files.

Is there a file size limit?

We do not set one. The work is done in your device's memory, so very large files can be slow or fail, especially on a phone. Splitting into one file per page makes many small files in memory, which a very long PDF may find heavy. The page warns you above 50 MB for one file or 200 MB in total, and you can still carry on.

What can't Split PDF do?

It splits by page numbers only: not by bookmarks, headings or file size. Password-protected PDFs have to be unlocked first.
