Edit a PDF
Click a line of text on the page and type to change it, or add new text, highlights, covers, images and a drawn signature. It runs in your browser, so your file is not uploaded.
Processed in your browser. Your files are not uploaded.
How it works
- Add one PDF file.
- With Edit Text chosen, click a line of text on the page and type to change it. Use Add Text, Cover, Highlight, Image or Sign for anything else.
- Check each page. The thumbnails jump to a page, and Undo takes a change back.
- Select Save edited PDF and download it.
What this does and doesn't do
- What it does
- Lets you click a block of text and change it in the same font, size, colour and line spacing, with the old words covered by the colour of the page. Only the blocks you change are touched. You can also add text, highlights, covers, images and a drawn signature.
- What it doesn't do
- Editing covers the old text; it does not remove it, so the old words are still in the file. Use Redact PDF to remove text for good. A scan has no text to click, so use Add Text. Kannada text can be added, but it is saved as a picture, so it cannot be selected or searched, and it uses Noto Sans Kannada rather than the original font. Kannada text already in the PDF cannot be edited directly: use Cover, then Add Text. Other Indian languages cannot be added or redrawn. A font we do not have is matched to the closest one, and you are warned before you save. Saving may remove digital signatures and form fields.
Questions about this tool
Is my PDF uploaded when I edit it?
No. Edit PDF runs in your browser, on your own device. Your PDF is read and changed there, and never sent to our servers or to anyone else's.
What happens to my data?
Your PDF and everything you add to it, including text, images and your signature stay in your browser's memory while you work and are gone when you close or refresh the page. We do not save them, and this site uses no analytics or advertising cookies. Our host may keep ordinary server logs of page visits, which never include your files.
Is there a file size limit?
We do not set one. The work is done in your device's memory, so very large files can be slow or fail, especially on a phone. The page you are working on is drawn at a large size, so a PDF with very big pages needs more memory. The page warns you above 50 MB for one file or 200 MB in total, and you can still carry on.
Does it change my original file?
No. You download a new file, and the original on your device is left exactly as it was.
